Occurrence of the expanded capillaries may be a symptom of vein circulatory inefficiency or an aesthetic problem caused by venous blood circulation disturbance. A physician conducts an ultrasound examination and determines the treatment method. If venous circulation is not disturbed, the capillaries may undergo direct treatment without interventions into large veins.

Treatment depends both on the diameter of the vein and whether it has feeding branches. If the diameter of the capillaries is big enough or venous branches are large, then a sclerotherapy may be applied. This technique involves injection of medicaments into the vein, which seal it shut. In case of no feeding veins and presence of tiny capillaries, radiofrequency treatment may be applied, i.e. when a tiny needle is inserted inside the capillary and a capillary vein is then burned from within.
