An ultrasound scan is a non-invasive test for observing structural changes in tissues with the help of sound waves. Ultrasound examination helps to quickly and reliably diagnose diseases of heart, thyroid, breast, kidney, bladderm abdominal and pelvic organs.
Ultrasound examinations performed at Baltic Medical Centre in Canary Wharf, London:
- Abdominal ultrasound is used to examine the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, spleen, aorta, pancreas, and blood vessels of the abdomen. In addition, this ultrasound helps to detect kidneys and gallbladder stones, cysts, and some tumours.
- Gynaecological ultrasound is used to examine uterus, endometrium and ovaries.
- Pelvic and Transrectal ultrasound is used to examine the prostate, bladder, reproductive organs, vascular structures, adnexal masses, and lymph nodes.
- A pregnancy ultrasound is used to examine and visualise a baby (embryo / fetus) within a pregnant woman, as well as the women’s ovaries and uterus.
- Vascular ultrasound is used to examine arteries or veins in the head, neck, arms or legs.
- Fertility ultrasound Scan is used for follicle tracking and to measure the endometrial thickness.
- An echocardiogram is used to examine heart, heart valves or blood vessels.
- Carotid ultrasound checks carotid arteries in the neck. The carotid arteries supply blood to the brain, and carotid ultrasound can help detect blockages or narrowing of the arteries that could increase the risk of stroke or other complications.
- Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA) Screening. This ultrasound screening is one of the diagnostic methods used to detect and evaluate GCA.
- One organ ultrasound aimed to assess a particular organ or body part: thyroid, scrotum, breast, testicles, prostate, soft tissue lumps and bumps and many more structures.
